Parents,
Next Thursday, December 17th we will participate in our annual Polar Express Pajama Day! We will use the book, The Polar Express written by Chris Van Allsburg to practice various reading strategies such as retelling, comparing/contrasting, and sequencing. In addition, we will focus on various vocabulary words throughout the text.
On this day we ask that you dress your child in their favorite pajamas just like the children that rode on the Polar Express in the book. Please make sure that your child wears sneakers. No slippers are allowed!
After listening to the story we will watch the movie while drinking hot chocolate and eating cookies.
Happy Holidays,
The Kindergarten Team

Dear Parents,
Gobble, gobble! The kindergarten classes will be celebrating Thanksgiving by holding a “feast” on November 12th. The students will be in the Native American or Pilgrim outfit they have created at school. We have learned several songs and will sing together in the cafeteria at 8:30AM. We will then have our feast in the cafeteria, just like the first Thanksgiving! (This meal will consist of healthy snacks, and lunch will still be served in the cafeteria at the regular time. The purpose of this activity is to re-enact the first Thanksgiving.)
Please help make this day a memorable one for your child by donating a snack for your class.
Snack suggestions include:
Fruit (grapes & apple slices)-
Pretzels or Crackers-
Turkey lunchmeat-
Cheese cubes-
I bag Popped Popcorn-
Juice boxes (1 box of 10 per donation)-
Please, no candy.
Snack donations may be sent at any time up to the day of the feast.
We would love to see you on the 12th. Please meet us in the cafeteria at 8:30am. Thank you so much for your support!
Sincerely,
The Kindergarten Team
The Impossible Patriotism Project
Author: Linda Skeers
DUE: Friday, November 13th
Over the next couple of weeks we will be learning about Veteran’s Day. In addition, we will be learning about two American Symbols: The Statue of Liberty and the Bald Eagle. I will be reading, The Impossible Patriotism Project. This book is about a class project in which the students make something that shows what Patriotism means to them. The students in the story make all kinds of projects by drawing or making things that symbolize America.
As a culminating activity I would like for each child to do their very own Patriotism project. The students can dress up, share photos of a family member that has served or is currently serving in the armed forces, create a poster, etc. (Be creative and have fun! J) On Friday, November 13, 2015 your child will need to bring in his/her own PATRIOTISM PROJECT (anything that represents America.) Each child will have a time to share his/her project with the class on that day.
Let’s all show our love for America by wearing
Red, White, and Blue on Friday, November 13th!!!
